Lisa G. Dill is the author of Around the Bend: Floating Down the Missouri River. She has been published in Equus, Delaware Today, Stories with Grace, and other publications. A lifelong horsewoman and nature enthusiast, she has ridden, paddled, boated, hiked and backpacked in forty-six states and fourteen countries on three continents.
In 2001, Lisa took a class that required her to sit by a place where water and land came together once a week, for one hour, for fifteen weeks, and write about it. Slowly, she started to understand the value of bearing witness to the mundane. It would be twelve years before she went down the Missouri River, but that class changed everything about how she saw the world, and her place in it.
Lisa teaches undergraduate and graduate creative, environmental, and professional writing at the University of Delaware and Iowa Lakeside Laboratory.

Workshops
“Red in Tooth and Claw.” This creative nonfiction workshop will focus on nature writing and, particularly, on writing the parts of nature that aren’t beautiful or cuddly. There is beauty in all of it, but how do we find it in the mundane?
“Using Landscape.” This workshop will explore generating creative writing ideas through exploring Lakeside Lab’s varied ecosystems. Weather permitting, the workshop will include walks around the campus and/or kayaking in Little Miller’s Bay.
