Maura Casey spent 35 years as an editorial writer for four newspapers, including the New York Times, during which time she won 45 regional and national journalism awards.
She writes a weekly Substack column called Casey’s Catch (maurac.substack.com), her take on politics, family life and living on a farm in rural New England. Her memoir, Saving Ellen, is due to be released by Skyhorse Publishing by Spring 2025. The book concerns her childhood as the youngest of six in Buffalo, NY, at a time when her sister Ellen’s kidney disease was considered terminal and her wise-cracking, WWII Army veteran mother fought against all odds to save her.
