    A writer, editor, and educator, Scott Garson grew up in Iowa and spent a number of summers on Lake Okoboji.

    These days he teaches and coordinates the undergraduate creative writing program at the University of Missouri. He’s the editor of Wigleaf—the multi-Pushcart-Prize-winning journal of flash fiction which has published such writers as Dan Chaon, Roxane Gay, Carmen Maria Machado, and Rumaan Alam (in addition to OWR speaker Nicole Baart and OWR participant Julie Klein!).

    Scott’s collection of short stories—”Is That You, John Wayne?”—was a Small-Press-Distribution best-seller and was promoted by Barnes & Noble in conjunction with their Discover New Writers program.

    His work has appeared widely—in American Short Fiction, Electric Literature, The Kenyon Review, Story, Threepenny Review, and others—and has been anthologized/recognized in Best Microfiction, Best Small Fictions, Best American Short Stories, and Best of the Web.
