Steve began the Ice Cube Press in 1991 with a wish to better understand how we can best live in the Midwest using the literary arts. Since then he has published well over 100 books by remarkable authors all over the nation. He was recognized with the Iowa Governor’s Art Award in 2023. As a result, he is fluent in editing, writing, marketing, query letters, and entrepreneurial skills, as well as the process of taking a good idea from concept to book form.
Along the way, he’s been a writer-in-residence and has authored several books, including one on Great Blue Herons that won the Kansas Book Award.
